If you have a VPS server, with cPanel installed, and when using Outlook as an email client you get the error “Your server does not support any of the authentication methods supported by this client” it is because the version of Outlook can only recover the emails in plain text; so you must force emails to be transmitted in plain text.
This error occurs in older versions of Outlook that do not allow encryption options.
Enabling transmission in plain text is a security option that is not recommended to be activated, but you may need to have it this way because you use an old email client.
1- To make the change, the first thing you have to do is access the WHM of your VPS.
2- In the main search engine, search for “exim” and click on the exim Configuration Manager option.
3- Within the exim administration, click on the Security tab.
4- Deactivate the option “Require clients to connect with SSL or issue the STARTTLS command before they are allowed to authenticate with the server” by checking the Off option.
5- Finally, press the “Save” button below all to save the settings.
Then you can use Outlook normally.
We remind you again that unchecking this option leads to a decrease in the security of your server, therefore, do so only if you have no other option.
