TrueShield is a Web Application Firewall (WAF), that is, a system that protects a website against hacker attacks.
A hacker, taking advantage of common vulnerabilities, is able to access a website, steal its content, modify it, destroy it, insert malicious code to promote the spread of viruses and malware. TrueShield not only manages to block all web traffic capable of damaging the site, but also protects the same site from possible attacks. Activating website protection takes a few minutes. From the SiteLock Control Panel, through the TrueShield link, access the configuration wizard.
Configuration is done in three steps:
Step 1: it is the stage in which it is checked if the website is actually active. If no error is displayed, you can continue with the next step.
Step 2: this is the stage in which the interface checks the DNS pointing of the website and indicates the modifications that must be made.
As you can see in the image, to activate TrueShield on www.hosting-demo.net it is necessary to modify the DNS records of hosting-demo.net as follows:
- Modify Record A that points to 81.88.48.95 to point it to 149.126.77.12.
- Create a second hosting-demo.net A Record pointing to 185.11.125.152
- Modify the CNAME pointing of www.hosting-demo.net from onlinux-it.setupdns.net to iqfcj.sitelockcdn.net
The above parameters are just an example in the case of Linux hosting and a site present on AtlanticaDigital. The parameters that actually need to be entered for DNS, different for each site, will be indicated by the TrueShield Wizard at the time of configuration.
Then TrueShield will start working; However, the modified DNS zones will need to be propagated in such a way that 100% of the incoming traffic is under the control of TrueShield: propagation will take less than an hour. If hosting-demo.net is in the AtlanticaDigital control panel, it will be enough to access the control panel with your credentials and then click on the domain of the site on which SiteLock TrueShield is being configured. Clicking Domain Association and then DNS Settings takes you to the DNS Management interface. Select Advanced Management and click Add Record to add the second Record A.
Then modify the records as shown in the next image:
Step 3 : It is an optional step for those who wish to introduce the SiteLock seal that certifies the security of the website, communicating to those who visit the site that it has a certification that is synonymous with security and reliability. To enter it on the website, you will have to click on Install SiteLock Trust Seal; Now it is possible to begin the configuration of the logo that certifies the security and reliability of your site. The screen will open:
Clicking on Start Trust Seal Installation ( Begin Trust Seal Installation) you will be able to start the configuration of the Trust Seal logo. After you have selected the desired options, click Save Options so that the Logo is ready to be added to the site.
Step 4: is the step dedicated to contact information: you can decide whether or not to show contact information (address and telephone number) to website visitors.
This completes all the steps operations to perform a correct configuration of TrueShield: the website is enriched with an important form of protection and security, protection against attacks ques of hackers and potential dangers.
