Using Mailman

MailMan Mailing List

Mailman is the most popular mailing list program and is an ideal instrument for communication between participants, allowing you to create a mailing list with many configurable options. It allows you to group several email addresses into one and thus avoid putting the addresses in the CC (with copy) fields. It also filters spam emails to receive or not, only emails from the members of the list.

To create a mailing list:

Go to the CPANEL "E-Mail" section, click on "Mailing Lists", click on "Add Mailing List" and enter "List Name" and "Password" to manage the list in the future.

Mailman allows the management of the list via the web, something very easy to use and that allows the person who created the list to download from having to make any changes that you need; You also have the possibility of saving all the messages to be able to view them via the web and be able to manage said list according to the needs that it may have.

With Mailman you can change many parameters very easily. Before starting, if you have some knowledge of English, it is very likely that this document will not help you, since each option has a "(Details)" link that will give you a lot of help to understand said option.

Subscribe to people: There is nothing poorer than a list where only you are. You must go to the "Membership Management" section. You can subscribe in bulk, putting the members' email, one below the other in the box: "Mass Subscribe Members". You can also choose if they should receive the welcome message, depending on your choice, select "yes" or "no", also in the area under the title "Membership List" you can see the members that there is so far, to delete someone just uncheck the "subscr" box. When you are sure about the changes, click the "Submit your changes" button. For now things are not very complicated, we are going to make our lives a little more difficult.

In the "General Options" section, you can configure the most common things on your list:
"The public name of this list" - Name of your list.
"The list aName of your list.dmin's email address" - Administrator account. In case you have several, one below the other, like a member subscription.
"A terse phrase identifying this list" - Short review of the list.
"An introductory description" - Commentary, more complete than the previous one, talking about the reason why everyone should be inside.
"Prefix for subject line of list postings" - Name that you want to appear in the headers of the messages in the list, that is, what goes between square brackets [].
"List-specific text prepended to new-subscriber welcome message" - Welcome message sent to all members of your "cult".
"Where are responses to list messages directed?" - To meet the standards you should put Poster
"Send welcome message when people subscribe?" - Send the welcome message (that you wrote previously) to the new ones?
"Should administrator get immediate notice of new requests, as well as daily notices about collected ones?" - In case you want it to notify you when a message has not been accepted on the list for some reason, in addition to sending you a daily reminder so you don't forget.
"Should administrator get notices of subscriptions/unsubscribes?" - To receive notifications from who has successfully subscribed or unsubscribed from the list.
"Send mail to poster when their posting is held for approval? - If you decide to have mailman send a message to the person who has tried to send something to the list and has not let him for some reason.
"Maximum length in Kb of a message body" - Maximum limit of messages sent to your list, set 0 if you don't want a limit, a value of 50-100 is normal.
"To Change The Administrator Password" - To change your administrator password (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED). You must enter the one you have in the box on the left and the new one (twice) in the box on the right

Now we go to the "Archival Options" section:
"Archive messages?" - If you want to have a history of the messages sent to your list.
"Is archive file source for public or private archival?" - If you want said history to be public or private.
Important and with this we finish, "Privacy Options" section
"Advertise this list when people ask what lists are on this machine?" - In case you want me to know your location publicly.
"What steps are required for subscription?" - What steps are required to subscribe: confirm (confirm the response email, that is, public subscription), require approval (only your approval is necessary), confirm+approval (both, recommended for private lists).
"Who can view subscription list?" - Who can see the subscribed list: Anyone, List members, List admin only.
"Show member addrs so they're not directly recognizable

as email addrs?" - Show the list of members so that it is not possible to know the email addresses? That is, hide it to prevent anyone from seeing the addresses.
"Must posts be approved by an administrator?" - Should the shipments be approved by the administrator?
There are many more options, but to have your list in 10 minutes this is enough.

If you already have the list created and want to edit it, delete it or change password
